Bible Reading - Introduction

If you’ve never done a daily Bible reading program, this is the year

to start. Reading your Bible daily has quite a few benefits.

PROGRAMS PROGRAMS
It familiarizes you with the order of the books of the Old and New Testaments - from Genesis to Malachi in the Old Testament, and Matthew to Revelation in the New Testament. You can learn where some of the Bible characters fit into a timeline. Did Abraham live before Moses, or after? What is the order of the kings of Israel? When you read about Bible characters, you begin to see how all people are similar in their natures. Seeing their responses to God - whether good and commended, or bad and condemned - can encourage you to make the right decisions when confronted with a temptation to sin (Hebrews 11; 12:1,2). The reader can get an overall picture of the nature of God. God does not change from testament to testament (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). Your reading keeps the word of God near to you to help you when faced with temptation (Psalm 119:11). Daily Bible reading gives you inside knowledge. When you are familiar with God’s word, it is harder to be deceived by false teachers (Matthew 7:15-20). (Click the MOTIVATION button to read some motivating information.)
